We here at VLL are HUGE Project Runway fans. Seriously, What’s not to love? Heidi Klum is smokin’ hot…every season…even in maternity clothes! Admittedly, I am excited she is not knocked up this time around so we can see her in all of her glory. Michal Kors is hilarious as always. I wish he was my gay adopted father. Nina is still a bitch…and we love it! And the fashion!! Oh, the fashion!!
This season of Project Runway looks to be full of talented visionaries ready to turn up the heat on this season, and we like it hot! This week we thought we would highlight a few designers who we think you should keep your eyes on, starting with VLL and the current Project Runway fan favorite, Ms. Anya Ayoung-Chee!
This former beauty queen just learned how to sew 4 months prior to being on Project Runway. Now, you would think that puts her at a huge disadvantage but in the very first episode, she chose to immediately exit her comfort zone and attack two tasks that she has never executed before! 1. Making a perfectly tailored pair of pants.
2. Sewing silk (not an easy task) By taking these risks and completing a very fashion forward, yet wearable, outfit Anya (almost) emerged a winner. Taking second place in the first challenge proved to everyone she is not to be underestimated. I like a girl that comes out swinging; she has a lot to prove. Hopefully by winning Project Runway it will finally over shadow that pesky sex tape scandal that surfaced when she was a finalist in the 2008 Miss Universe Pageant. (*This is just a warning to people stupid enough to need it; Never make a sex tape people. It will ALWAYS surface at the worst possible moment…always.) I can see Anya winning this season if she can keep those construction skills up to par and keep the innovation in her designs. The Caribbean influence and the playful surprises in her design make her clothes very current as well as flattering. (Did you see that model’s ass in her pants? Heidi loved the ass! Perfection!) Plus, I have a huge girl crush on her so I want her to stay! The hair! The style! The accent!! I mean….just look at her!!!
If she doesn’t win as a designer, she can always come back next season as one of the models. Good luck to you Anya! We’re rooting for you, girl!
