Don’t know about Poshmark? It’s an App which lets you buy and sell women’s fashion and accessories, pretty much all from your phone. I’ve been using Poshmark for a few months now, and I LOVE IT. I’ve put together a sort of intro/basic of Poshmark and what has helped me sell lots of items! The image above is of my closet, my user name is @njcati. You can see the interface and how easy it is to navigate to buy and sell fashion. If you haven’t signed up already you can use the code BIAIE for a $5 credit to get started.
I love listing items! Closets that have at least 10 listings tend to be seen more often. You don’t have to go nuts and list everything, but list a few items at once when you start off. Take clear photos and describe the item accurately. Make sure you have selected the correct designer so you increase chances of it being found by a potential buyer. If you’re unsure about pricing go ahead and google your item a few times and check for other listings and compare prices. Poshmark takes 20% commission from sales $15.00+, and a flat $2.95 fee for items under $15.00. This may seem high, but personally I’m alright with it. Poshmark handles the shipping charges (buyer pays shipping) and e-mails you a prepaid label as soon as your item sells. Print it, pack it, and ship it. You can arrange a pick up at your home from your local mail carrier (all Poshmark sales are shipped USPS priority) or bring it to the post office yourself. I’ll have a more in-depth post coming soon about cover shots and shipping, so stay tuned.
This is important, but can start to get tricky. When you first start off on Posh it’s easy to get caught up just following random users. This is good – but you might want to use a little bit of discretion. Some users do not comply with all the rules that Posh has and it helps to do a quick scope of someone’s closet before following them. You won’t get in trouble if you share an item that is prohibited (we’ve all done it!) but it helps to keep the over all integrity of Poshmark. Following users that follow the rules will result in less drama and more shares!
This is probably the most important part of this post. When you visit a Poshmark user’s closet you are able to see how many listings they have, how many followers, how many they are following, and their amount of shares. That number tells you if the user is an active sharer or not. You can see your own share number in your closet stats, and it’s always good to check on that and work on making it higher! Why is this so important? Sharing basically is advertising your own closet as well as someone else’s items. When you share items from another user’s closet, that item will appear to your followers in their own news feeds. Sharing lots of items has helped my sales immensely. I basically started sharing about 8-10 items from a few users that would pop up in my feed or in my notifications. Some returned the shares, some didn’t – but the point was my items were now being shown to people who were not even on my own feed, which also caused my followers to go up.
Communicate with your buyers/sellers and as always – be nice. Manners go a long way and when you’re dealing with potential sales it always helps to keep yourself as professional and possible.
Like I said, I’m going to be posting more Poshmark installments so make sure you’re following and receiving updates from Vive La Luxe! If you’re NEW to Poshmark and have any questions please feel free to ask in the comments and we’ll do our best to answer. Happy Poshing!
The road to spring is sometimes long (and cold, and windy, and…ugh) depending on where you live, so for us Jersey girls a collection of cardigans is never a bad idea.
I personally love the way a cotton cardigan feels. It can still be fashionable without looking like a blanket as long as you find the right style. Making sure something FITS is always important too! Forever21 has a fuzzy cardigan sweater for under $25! You can pair this with a shoulder bearing dress and some tights and boom! Seasonably appropriate. If you’re like me, sundresses and spaghetti straps litter your closet. When it comes to cold weather I run the risk of looking like a fool if I don’t pair it accordingly.
Love Love LOVE this dress from Target. It is simple but fashionable and most importantly, it’s comfortable! I’m about a size 11, 5’8″ and a D cup. I know all too well how difficult it can be to dress yourself especially when the clothes you want are built for a size 4 but are available in 10 and up. My good friend Sukanya over at Glitter and Vodka has a wonderful post about this issue which is definitely worth a read.
This dress is on sale right now at UrbanOutfitters.com. It’s a great find for under $20 and is yet another piece you can mix and match with sweaters. Don’t be thrown off by the colors and stripes. Go for a solid cardigan or a blazer if you’re looking to glam it up a bit. Accessorize accordingly with a pair of earrings or a cocktail ring. You absolutely can go overboard and run the risk of looking like, well….
Yikes. I apologize for the scare, but all Jersey girls don’t look like that and I needed to make a point here. For those of you that still have your browser opened and aren’t completely shaken by the horror above I have one more tip to keep your head up for those spring days.
Iced Coffee! I am a bona fide coffee lover and there’s nothing more I enjoy than a delicious iced coffee on a(n almost warm) day. Head over to Dunkin’ Donuts Philly area Facebook page for sweet coupons and promotions. Free coffee always tastes better! Janae and I are both BzzAgents. BzzAgent is a pretty sweet website which let’s you participate in campaigns to sample new items to review, once you register of course!
Two years ago, I would have never even considered making this post…
For as long as I can remember, I have been deathly afraid of snakes. I mean completely over reacting-if-I-see-a-snake-on-tv kinda scared. In the past, I have actually called police to remove tiny Garter snakes from my kitchen. It was bad. Realllyy bad. Then I fell in love…with a herpetologist. (For those of you not familiar with that bio-slang, a herpetologist is a person who studies reptiles and amphibians.) Long story short, love makes you do some crazy-ass things! I have set my fears aside for the man I love and for the past two years, I have succeeding in taking (baby) steps in accepting these (ungodly) creatures in my life. As you can tell, I’m still working on some issues. As I learned more about these prehistoric looking animals, I found myself actually appreciating something about them. By switching my mind to fashion mode I was able to find something that I, dare I say it, love about them…the genius, eye-catching, natural design in their skins.
Even though I never thought I would say it, a great snake-skin is truly something to behold! Endless variety of colors and patterns are strewn throughout the reptile world from tortoise-shell to python. I must admit, the reptile has got the fashion world on lock down in 2011.
Check out the undeniable allure of reptile prints on this year’s various runways:
. Chloe. Paris. 2011.
Burberry Prorsum. Fall. 2011.
Super Cute Snake Skin Booties
As you can see, the reptile is Winning in 2011. They have dominated Chloe’s Paris runway and have popped up in magazines such as Vogue and W for sometime now. It’s chic, it’s interesting and the varieties are endless! It is high fashion, no doubt about it. It’s just going to take me a little more getting used to, that’s all! I’m sure if I had those snake-skin booties, I would feel much less anxiety about reptiles as a whole, wouldn’t you?
If you’re like me and snake-skin really isn’t your bag (no pun intended), what is your favorite animal print?
Last week’s episode of Project Runway actually turned out to be an all time favorite for me! The “Nina Challenge” pushed the designers to create one of a kind pieces for one of the hardest clients they will ever have to encounter. The runway show was extraordinary and I would have proudly rocked more than one piece that stomped down the cat walk. Here are a few of my personal favorites plus the winning look!
This week’s favorite designer spotlight goes to 26 yr old St. Louis native, Laura Kathleen. This girl is kinda fierce in my eyes. She displays great taste and excellent execution in each episode and continues to please the judges with her fashion forward thinking. When asked why she thinks she is going to win Project runway her response is simply “I know what I’m doing.” I think she does too. Here is a look at her past work and her best looks thus far in season 9.
